A pastor, his wife and their son have appeared in court charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

A pastor in South Africa is accused of chopping off a man's hands for stealing scrap metal and electrical wires from churches.

Sowetan Live reported this.

Dumisani Mahlanga said the priest had ruined his life and added that he would never forgive him after the incident in March in KwaGuka, a town west of the industrial city of Emalahleni.

The young man, now 30, was accused of burglarizing a nearby Christian ministry, Soteria Ministries International.

Pastor Solomon Mhlanga, his wife Poppy and their son Enoch appeared in the Emalahleni Magistrates Court charged with kidnapping and attempted murder.

The pastor and his son were released on bail, while Poppy was given a warning.

“This thing is destroying me inside. I will never forgive him,” the victim said. “I haven't forgiven him, I won't forgive him, and I'll die without forgiving him.”
