President of Tajikistan says there is no coronavirus in the country

Tajikistan has coped with the spread of coronavirus infection, said President Emomali Rahmon in his annual message to the country's parliament.

“Since the beginning of January, the infectious disease COVID-19 has practically disappeared in our country, that is, Tajikistan today lives in an environment without COVID-19,” Rakhmon said.

At the same time, he clarified that citizens should still be vigilant, take care of each other, and also observe the rules of personal and public hygiene.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan, there are no new cases of COVID-19 in the country. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 13,308 people have been infected with the coronavirus. Of these, 13,218 were cured, 90 died.

The first cases of coronavirus infection in Tajikistan were confirmed only at the end of April. Then the republican headquarters decided to oblige citizens to wear medical masks, and university students from the first to the third year were sent ahead of schedule for summer holidays.
