The President of Kazakhstan proposed changing the country's national flag, since the current one, in his opinion, is too complex and contains elements of the Soviet era.

Kazakh President Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev proposed on March 15 to consider changing the coat of arms of his country.

He stated this at the third meeting of the National Kurultai in the city of Atyrau in the west of the country, Radio Liberty reports.

According to Tokayev, the current coat of arms, approved in June 1992, is too complex, mixes styles and has elements of the Soviet era.

“On the state emblem, I consider it advisable to take into account the reasonable arguments of professionals and concerned citizens, including young people, that the coat of arms of Kazakhstan is too difficult to perceive, it contains eclecticism (a combination of incompatible elements – ed. ) and signs of the Soviet era,” said Tokayev. /thumbs/608xX/f7/70/d20aa476fd4f31b1e7702ca7c87870f7.jpeg” width=”608″ height=”456″ alt=”The flag of Kazakhstan now/© pixabay.com”>

The leader of Kazakhstan added that “in case of general agreement” a special commission can work on the issue, which “will announce an open competition for the best design of the new coat of arms of the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

Recall that it was previously reported that at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin put pressure on the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev regarding the supply of certain types of weapons to the Russian army.
