President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev promised to study the issue of early dissolution of parliament and holding new elections in the republic. The Telegram channel Baza writes about this.
In addition, according to a RIA Novosti source, the head of state intends to make a new appeal to the nation in the next few hours due to mass protests and clashes in Kazakh cities. This will be the second public address by the politician since the demonstrations began.
Protests in Kazakhstan began on Sunday, January 2, due to an increase in gas prices for cars from 60 to 120 tenge (from 10 to 20 rubles) per liter. Soon economic demands were replaced by political ones: the resignation of the government, the holding of new elections, consideration of the issue of lustration of people from the “clan” of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
