A severe storm hits northern Italy after days of extreme heat. A woman was killed when a tree fell near Milan.

Powerful storm in Italy
The media reported that the 63-year-old woman died in the town of Robeccheto con Indugno, west of Milan, while returning from a walk with two other people. They were reportedly injured in the incident and hospitalized.
Firefighters reported that they have now dealt with about 50 emergencies. According to them, another 37 remain unresolved. Most of the calls are related to the danger of falling trees, flooded basements and taverns, as well as advertising boards torn down by strong gusts of wind.

Heavy rainfall was also reported in the eastern Veneto region, where the storm hit areas around the cities of Belluno and Vicenza, as well as parts of Tuscany, where trees were also reported to have fallen, according to Italian news agency Ansa.
