Teddy Atlas and Alexander Povetkin
American Teddy Atlas, who had previously trained boxer Alexander Povetkin, recalled the impression he had after his first trip to Russia. The words of Atlas are quoted by “Sport-Express”.
According to Atlas, he had to stay in the city of Chekhov, Moscow Region. “I saw poverty, saw it on the roads, on the faces of people,” the specialist said. He stressed that at first he really wanted to return home. The coach also noted that he understood that there are rich people in Russia and that “everything is fine only with them.”
Atlas said that he knows what happened to such cities after the collapse of the USSR: “Such towns plunged into chaos.” The American also recalled that it was cold and “very depressing.”
