Japanese man Tanimoto, suspected of arson at clinic in Osaka, dies in intensive care

A man named Morio Tanimoto, suspected of arson in a clinic in the Japanese city of Osaka, died in intensive care. This was announced by the NHK TV channel.

It is reported that since admission to intensive care, he was in critical condition and was unconscious. Doctors failed to save him, as the man received severe carbon monoxide poisoning, being in the epicenter of the fire. Since the incident, Tanimoto has been in intensive care for two weeks. As a result of arson, 26 people died in the fire.

The fire in Osaka began around 10 a.m. local time on December 17. Tanimoto set it on fire with kerosene in a clinic located on the fourth floor of an office building. As a result, the entire floor caught fire. About 70 fire trucks and ambulances arrived at the scene.

Police said Tanimoto prevented people from escaping from the burning building by blocking the exit. The fire blocked the exit to the stairs and to the elevator, this was the only way to escape. People tried to hide in the interior, where they were poisoned by carbon monoxide.
