Due to the corona pandemic, Austrian Post expects an increase in parcel volumes this year.
This December, more parcels will be sent than usual. Swiss Post advises you to post parcels with gifts by Monday, December 21st, so that they arrive on time by December 24th.
It could be up to a million parcels per day in the run-up to Christmas, the post said. Priority letters for recipients in Austria should be posted by Tuesday, December 22nd, and Eco letters by Friday, December 18th.
The last possible posting for parcels is December 21st, Post Express deliveries are possible by Wednesday, December 23rd at the latest. For shipments abroad you have to observe an earlier posting period.
“This information is subject to corona-related restrictions, which can lead to delays in delivery. For both Post Express and parcel shipments to third countries, special attention must also be paid to the processing time for customs clearance in the respective country of destination,” said Swiss Post.
The post offices in Austria will also be open on December 24th.
