Senator from the Polish Peasant Party Jan Philip Libicki called the possible withdrawal or exclusion of Poland from the European Union (EU) a tragedy. He stated this in an interview with Do Rzeczy, RIA Novosti reports.

“We are in such a place in Europe that, in my opinion, talking about some kind of neutrality is just a fairy tale. Either we can be in the EU and NATO, or in the Russian sphere of influence, ”said Libitsky.

The Polish senator added that the authorities must do everything possible to ensure that Poland never leaves the EU. According to him, Warsaw needs to adopt the euro as its national currency as soon as possible.

On December 22, it became known that the European Commission is launching a legal procedure against Poland for violating EU laws amid a dispute over the decision of Warsaw on the supremacy of the national constitution over European law. Thus, the commission expressed doubts about the independence and impartiality of the Constitutional Court of Poland.

On December 12, Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Zebro suggested that in the event of an aggravation of the conflict over the rule of law in the EU, stop payments to the union's budget and veto its decisions.
