Possible cause of explosion at airport in Yemen named

The possible cause of the explosion at the Aden airport is rocket attacks from the Houthis. A military source told RIA Novosti about this.

The airport is likely to have come under rocket fire from areas of Yemen controlled by the Ansar Allah Houthi rebels. The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the country Muammar al-Iryani also made accusations against them. According to some reports, eyewitnesses heard the sound of drones during the incident.

The number of victims of the shelling increased to 10 people. More than 20 people were injured. The explosion at the Aden airport became known earlier on December 30. This happened during the arrival of the new government from Saudi Arabia, where they took the oath of office to the fled President Abdul Rabbou Mansur Hadi.

The Yemeni conflict has been in an active phase since 2014. The Houthi rebels are believed to be supported by Iran and Hezbollah.
