Investigators will consider the version according to which Yegor Prosvirnin, a journalist and founder of the Sputnik and Pogrom project blocked in Russia, could commit suicide. This was announced on Monday, December 27, by a law enforcement source to Lente.ru.
“According to preliminary data, at the time of his death, 35-year-old Prosvirnin could have been intoxicated. So far, the two main versions of what happened are suicide and an accident. According to neighbors, before his death, the man threw a knife and pepper spray out of the window, ”the source said.
As the interlocutor of “Lenta.ru” noted, according to available information, at the time of the incident Yegor Prosvirnin was alone in a rented apartment. According to the preliminary examination, no damage was found on the body of the deceased, indicating the impact of third parties. Earlier, the journalist's lawyer Matvey Tsen confirmed his death.
On December 27, it became known that a naked man fell out of the window of a multi-storey building on Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow and died before the ambulance arrived. Later, relatives identified the deceased and confirmed that it was Prosvirnin. The circumstances of the incident are still unknown.
In July 2017, Roskomnadzor added the Sputnik and Pogrom website to the list of blocked resources. The reason for the blocking was “the propaganda of the idea of national and religious hatred, which forms threats to public security and encourages extremism.” The site gained popularity thanks to humorous social media posters.
