Allergic reactions to COVID-19 vaccines are rare. This possibility was revealed by experts from the Russian Association of Allergists and Clinical Immunologists, RIA Novosti reports.
“According to large-scale studies, the incidence of allergic reactions varies from 0.65 to 1.53 cases per one million doses, depending on the type of vaccine,” – said in the position paper of specialists.
It also clarifies that the available vaccines against coronavirus do not contain chicken egg protein, cow's milk, gelatin, antibacterial drugs, this significantly reduces the risk of developing an allergic reaction.
At the same time, experts recalled that vaccination against coronavirus is not recommended for patients with a previous severe allergic reaction to the components that make up the vaccines. Patients should seek the advice of their physician if they have any concerns.
Earlier, the intensive care physician, Professor Sergei Tsarenko gave advice on vaccination against coronavirus for people with allergies. According to the recommendation of a specialist, allergy sufferers should use antihistamines before and after vaccination. If a person has any doubts, Tsarenko advised contacting allergists.
