The former president of Ukraine, leader of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, arrived at the Warsaw airport for a flight to Kiev, where a treason trial will take place. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the ex-leader, he is not afraid of arrest after arriving in the capital. “Not. The people of Ukraine are behind me,” he expressed confidence. The politician also said that he did not prepare in case of a possible arrest.
According to RIA Novosti, Poroshenko arrived at the Federic Chopin airport to fly to Kiev on a flight departing from Warsaw at 6.40 (8.40 Moscow time).
Poroshenko is accused of treason – according to the prosecution, the politician betrayed the interests of the country because of the supply of coal from the territory of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. The politician himself considers the case fabricated and calls himself the leader of the opposition.
On December 17, 2021, Poroshenko left the country and went to Turkey and Poland to participate in meetings and an international conference on the topic “Russia-Ukraine-NATO”. He promised to return home after the New Year holidays.
