Anastasia Tarasko, an endocrinologist and nutritionist, told which foods for breakfast are harmful to the body, RIA Novosti reports.

Tarasco called strong tea and coffee on an empty stomach harmful, since they irritate the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract and do not energize the body. Cakes, sweets and pastries rich in fast carbohydrates have also been found to be dangerous. They are quickly absorbed and trigger a spike in glucose. These popular sugary foods quickly lead to hunger and headaches.

“Fatty meat, smoked, pickled products – all this food is hard to digest. After such a breakfast, as a rule, drowsiness sets in, working capacity decreases, ”explained the nutritionist.

The doctor advised to follow the rules of the food plate at all meals, according to which it is necessary to eat about a quarter of the total amount of protein.

“It can be eggs, cottage cheese, turkey, chicken, some kind of lean fish, half of vegetables and fruits, a quarter of long carbohydrates or whole grains,” Tarasco said.

According to the expert, protein can be supplemented with small amounts of fats, HCI oils, or unrefined vegetable oils and nuts.

Dietitians have previously uncovered six ways to improve your health with breakfast. They advised adding fruits and vegetables, clean water, vitamin C, eggs, and foods containing protein and fiber to this meal.
