Popova: no dangerous mutations of the Indian strain of coronavirus detected

The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, said that the Vector State Research Center had not found dangerous mutations in variants of the Indian strain of coronavirus infection.

“We have not found the evil mutations that the whole world fears so much, Indian variants,” Popova said on the Russia 24 TV channel.

She added that cases of infection with Indian strains were recorded in Russia. The Vector Center continues to study and research it.

Earlier, Anna Popova said that to date, more than ten cases of infection with the “Indian” strain of coronavirus have been identified in our country. However, there are many more people who have contracted the “British” type of COVID-19 – more than 550 cases since the beginning of its spread, and the number of Russians who have picked up the South African strain of coronavirus infection, according to the chief sanitary doctor of Russia, “is already measured in tens.”
