Moscow. April 30. INTERFAX.RU – More than 350 cases of infection with the “British” strain of coronavirus, as well as about 20 “South African” ones, have been identified in Russia, said the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova.
“Today there is a distribution from the import. (…) We (in Russia) have already identified more than 350 cases of the” British “strain, about 20” South African “, every day the numbers change,” Popova said in an interview with the TV channel “Russia 24 “(VGTRK).
She noted that to date, these cases do not cause a change in the epidemiological situation in the country, which means the effectiveness of the use of masks, social distance and restrictions.
“The so-called 'non-pharmaceutical methods of protection', they work, and colleagues from all countries where the development and predominance of these viruses are already evident today are talking and writing about this in their articles,” Popova said.
According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor, domestic tests for coronavirus detect all strains, and now there are no changes recorded that could bypass the test systems. They contain the most stable regions of the virus fragments that have not yet been changed.
“The same applies to our vaccines. The immunity that is developed after Russian vaccines protects against all changes and mutations we know,” Popova stressed.
She clarified that in order to protect against all strains, it is also necessary to wear masks, maintain social distance and try not to visit public places.
