Pope is going to operate
On July 4, Pope Francis went to the Gemelli hospital in Rome, where he will undergo a planned bowel surgery, the Holy See's seal service reports.
Surgical intervention is necessary in connection with stenosis – this is a narrowing of the outlet of the stomach. Because of this, the normal movement of food from the stomach into the duodenum is disrupted. The operation is scheduled for Sunday.
A medical bulletin will be published at the end of the procedure.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the Pope was advised by doctors to go on a diet to relieve his sciatica (osteochondrosis).
