The French Prime Minister Jean Castex had presented the Pope with the shirt of Messi's new club with the number 30 on a visit to the Vatican. The star striker had written on it: “For Francis with a lot of love.” During his time at FC Barcelona, Messi had already given the Pope several shirts from the Catalan club. Pope Francis is considered a great football fan. The Argentine's favorite club is San Lorenzo from Buenos Aires.
