Pope Francis is known for his love of surprises, so the date of his visit may be announced unexpectedly.
Pope Francis does not have a visit to Ukraine in his plans for 2025, but he can change his schedule at any time, since he received an invitation to visit Kyiv and accepted.
The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Svyatoslav, spoke about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.
According to Svyatoslav, the Vatican officially assured the UGCC that the invitation to visit Ukraine has been accepted, but when exactly the visit will take place is still unknown.
“There is no [date of the visit – ed.] yet, but Pope Francis sometimes likes to make surprises. He can announce a visit literally a month before he decides to come to Ukraine. Therefore, we enter this new year with hope. With the hope that a just peace will finally reign in Ukraine,” said the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Svyatoslav Shevchuk.
Recall that the Pope once again called for a truce in Ukraine. He made his speech from the Loggia of St. Peter in the Vatican during the Christmas address “Urbi et Orbi” (to the city and the world).
