He stated this on the air of a joint broadcast head of the Lugansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. According to him, the situation in Popasna is very difficult, it is bombed around the clock, shot from all types of weapons.
Every day the enemy tries to carry out attacks even with entire battalions (one battalion up to 800 people). It is very hard, the city is almost completely destroyed, there is nothing to cling to, but our guys are holding on,” Gaidai said.
There is no way to evacuate civilians
He noted that there are still part of the civilian population, but there is no communication. Before the aggravation, the authorities tried to evacuate people every day, they did it while it was possible.
“We noted the importance of evacuation, asked people to leave. We understood that the battles would be very dense, powerful shelling that would threaten people’s lives. evacuation transport, and our school bus was captured,” the head of the OVA explained.

That's why people cannot be evacuated now. The exact number of civilians in Popasna is still unknown, but according to Gaidai, there are approximately 50,000 civilians left throughout the Lugansk region.
The invaders are planning an offensive in the near future
We are preparing for an offensive , the next 3-4 days they will give up all efforts to break through to Severodonetsk or Popasnaya and encircle the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
