A fortunate providence helped the British citizen Denis Fawcitt to become richer by a tidy sum. The man decided to move away from his favorite method of playing the lottery and thanks to this he was able to lie the jackpot.
Fawcitt, 80, has been playing the lottery for a long time and bought tickets at the same co-op store near his home. Usually he entered in combinations that had any meaning in his life, for example, birthdays of loved ones, but on that day the pensioner forgot his glasses at home, without which he could not make out the numbers and letters.
“I realized that I had forgotten my glasses and tried to write my usual combinations, but I didn’t succeed,” the Briton said in an interview with the BBC. – So I just asked the saleswoman to use the program to generate the numbers for me.
The rules of the EuroMillions lottery allow you to either choose the combination yourself, the appearance of which will be waiting for a person with a sinking heart, or leave this question to fate.
As a result, during the next drawing, the Briton was surprised to learn that he had won 116 thousand pounds, which translated into dollars is about 160 thousand – more than 12 million rubles. However, the man claims that this time before the rally he felt that something special could happen, and he even promised his wife a “big jackpot”.
According to a married couple of retirees, they were shocked by the news, but treated it with restraint, “without champagne and dancing.” Fawcitt allowed himself only a glass of whiskey, and his wife a little sherry. After the members of the lottery commission checked the ticket, the British still missed a couple of cocktails, and after the end of the quarantine caused by the coronavirus pandemic, they promise to throw a gorgeous family celebration.
So far, the winners are planning to please themselves with small new things – a TV, a mattress in the bedroom, a stove, as well as to renovate the house and improve the garden. The pensioners want to give most of the prize to their children and grandchildren, believing that “they need money more.”
The EuroMillions lottery is very popular in Europe. The circulation is released once a week, and the jackpot grows indefinitely, until one lucky person matches all the numbers on the ticket with what the lottery drum “spits out”. The more people play the lottery, the fatter the prize pool.
And more recently, a man went to the store to buy carrots, but already at the checkout the seller announced the minimum purchase price for a card at 3 pounds sterling (300 rubles). At the grocery store, he was offered to buy a EuroMillions lottery ticket for the missing amount, which the man did. Returning home, he found that he had won £ 119,151 (over 12 million rubles).
