China inclines towards peace.
Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the UN Liu Jieyi called for the use of all diplomatic means to stop any hostilities on the territory of Ukraine and promote peace negotiations.
A Chinese diplomat said this in New York during a meeting of the UN Security Council.
“China noted the latest changes in the situation in Ukraine and carefully listened to the opinions that were expressed on this matter. Our proposals for resolving the issue of Ukraine are consistent and clear, namely: the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states. It must be respected,” he said. Liu. Jieyi.
According to him, one should adhere to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.
“The legitimate and security prospects of each of the states must be taken seriously. All efforts that can lead to a peaceful resolution of the crisis should be supported. China has always been on the side of peace and will continue to play a constructive role,” the representative of the People's Republic of China added.
At the same time, Liu Jieyi spoke about sanctions against the Russian Federation.
“Many leaders have expressed their warnings about the continuation and expansion of the crisis in Ukraine and its consequences, as well as the need for dialogue in order to stop hostile hostilities. Peace is a task for all of us. Appropriate confrontation, political isolation, sanctions can lead us all into stalemate. Therefore, accordingly, we must push the parties to open the door to a peaceful settlement of the conflict and accordingly take into account the positions in the negotiations, and also consider all available options,” said Liu Jieyi.
The diplomat paid attention and to the presidents' discussion of the grain agreement and called it a very important initiative, “giving hope”.
“The signing of the grain initiative demonstrated that even in conflict situations, diplomacy can lead to certain results and provide hope. We need to follow the international order, depending on the principles of the UN charter, and it should not be solely a statement. Confidence is key in the UN mechanism and must use all its means and stop any hostilities, lead to peace negotiations. Recall that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke at the Security Council via video link. He stressed that the Russian Federation had violated all possible rules of the world .
