650 trucks are waiting for entry into Ukraine before the Medika-Shegini checkpoint.
On the evening of Saturday, January 6, Polish farmers completed the blockade in front of the Medika-Shegini checkpoint.
This was reported by the press service of the State Border Service.
“According to information received from the Border Guard of the Republic of Poland, today at 21:00 the protest rally in front of the Medika-Shegini checkpoint ended,” the message says.
Ukrainian border guards added that registration and passage of cargo vehicles across the border in the direction of entry into Ukraine is carried out as usual.
According to information from the State Border Guard Service, according to as of 22.00, 650 trucks were expected to enter Ukraine in front of the Medika-Shegini checkpoint.
It was previously reported that the Polish government agreed with farmers blocking the road for truck traffic near the Medika-Shegini checkpoint to suspend the protest in this place for an indefinite period.
On January 4, on the road in front of the Medika checkpoint, adjacent to the Ukrainian Shegini checkpoint, farmers resumed blocking traffic for freight transport, which had been suspended for the Christmas holidays since December 24. The farmers said that they had not received the appropriate written assurances signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk about the fulfillment of their demands.
Recall that on November 6, 2023, Polish carriers blocked the movement of trucks on the border with Ukraine at the checkpoints Yagodin – Dorogusk, Krakovets – Korcheva, Rawa-Ruska – Grebene. On November 23, Polish farmers joined them at the Shegini-Medika checkpoint, putting forward their demands.
