~6 0~p>The protest of Polish farmers will also affect the border with Lithuania.
The protests of Polish farmers are spreading against the transit of Ukrainian grain. This week, farmers in the neighboring country are preparing for two new blockades: on the border between Poland and Germany in the city of Šwiecko and near Lithuania on the road at the Kalwaria-Budzisk border point.
This is reported by LRT.
As one of the organizers of the blockade, Karolis Pecinskis, told the source, farmers will stop and check all vehicles that are likely to transport Ukrainian grain or other agricultural products.
“The protest should begin on March 1 at 10 a.m. This will not be a complete blockade of the checkpoint. We, farmers, together with the Polish authorities want to check what is being transported in trucks, paying special attention to those vehicles that have the potential to transport with g products,” he said.
Farmers note that the measures will not affect personal transport, fuel tanks, vehicles for transporting metal or livestock.
“If we see grain and other products being transported, we would like to know where it is coming from, why and how, in order to get a feel for the volume of transportation,” said the farmer.
Polish farmers note that they want to draw attention to the violation of their interests and the lack of support for the sphere.
According to Pecinskis, they were thinking about how to increase pressure on the Polish government, so they decided to block the Lithuanian border.
The main problem, says a Polish farmer, is that there are suspicions that part of the Ukrainian grain that should transit through Poland actually remains in the country.
“Agricultural products (from Ukraine – ed.) are reloaded from trucks to trains, the final destination of which is transit ports on the Baltic Sea. But farmers suspected that part of this product remains in Poland,” he says.
Farmers are waiting and insisting that agreements be reached that will be beneficial to the Poles, so that it is clear how Ukrainian agricultural products travel through Poland, under what conditions and how it is guaranteed that these products will reach their final destination , and will not remain in Poland.
The farmer also commented on the provocations associated with Russia, some participants in the blockade, saying that the protesters are against any such actions.
We try and strive to ensure that our protests meet the interests of Polish farmers. We control that radical, marginal or other politically unfavorable initiatives do not appear among us. We coordinate our protests with the authorities so that all protests take place legally and peacefully, and we avoid any contact with possible provocateurs,” Pecinskis said.
We would like to add that in Kotomyr near Bydgoszcz they have completed the collection of Ukrainian corn, poured out from wagons on the tracks. It is known that between 160 and 180 tons fell. About 30 tons remained on the ground. It is weighed at customs and then disposed of. Corn from Ukraine was heading to Morocco.
