The German football legend Michael Ballack mourns the loss of his son Emilio. The only 18-year-old died in a tragic quad accident.
On Thursday night, the 18-year-old died in the quad accident in the Portuguese resort of Troia, south of Lisbon. The family owns a property there.
According to Portuguese media reports, the tragic incident is said to have occurred on the Ballack property. And that in the early morning hours. The fatal accident is said to have occurred around 2:10 a.m.
A police officer described the tragic incident to the “Daily Mail”: “The accident occurred on the family's property, the quad driver was not on a public road and it was the only vehicle involved.” The quad drove on an uneven spot when it rolled back and landed on Emilio Ballack.
A few days ago, Emilio's older brother Louis spoke of “flipping” quads on Instagram. In the meantime the posting has already been deleted.
The resuscitation measures immediately initiated were unsuccessful. The death of the 18-year-old is said to have been confirmed at the scene of the accident. According to media reports, an autopsy of the corpse should now bring new details to light about the course of the accident. For this, the body is transferred to the city of Santiago de Cacem.
Emilio was one of three sons that Ballack had with his ex-wife Simone, alongside Louis (19) and Jordi (16). The 18-year-old graduated from a school in Munich just eight weeks ago.
