Hundreds of supporters of the Swiss football super league club FC Zurich tried to catch a glimpse of a game in their home stadium with ladders. Police officers were attacked with stones, bottles and fireworks on Sunday when they tried to drive the fans off the stadium fence, reported the Zurich city police. The officials then used rubber shot, tear gas and water cannons to implement corona measures.
Due to the current Corona regulations, gatherings of a maximum of 15 people are generally allowed. Only up to 100 spectators are allowed to sit on the sports grandstands. According to the police, fans had called before the game against FC Lugano to come to the Letzigrund stadium and watch the match from ladders.
After the clash between fans and officials, there were no injuries to the knowledge of the police. FC Zurich beat Lugano 3-0 without the support of the onlookers and achieved their first victory in seven games.
