Polar explorers returned to St. Petersburg from Antarctica by ship

The research vessel “Akademik Fedorov” returned to St. Petersburg from the 66th Russian Antarctic expedition. There are 89 scientists and 65 crew members on board.

At 5 o'clock in the morning, the ship passed along the Kronstadt ship fairway and headed for the port, the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute reported.

After a long expedition in the Antarctic, polar explorers arrived in the city from Progress, Vostok, Mirny, Novolazarevskaya, Bellingshausen stations.

From the shores of Antarctica, the ship “Akademik Fedorov” went for almost a month and a half.

Russia has five year-round scientific stations in Antarctica and five seasonal ones. The Russian Antarctic Expedition is continuously working on the southernmost continent.
