Polish tanks are an upgraded version of the Soviet T-72M tank.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that his state would transfer 60 of its PT-91 Twardy tanks to Ukraine, except for the German Leopard 2.
The head of the Polish government said this at a joint meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference in Kiev on February 24.
“Also, one of these days we will hand over our very good PT-91 tanks. The next 60 tanks will arrive in Ukraine,” Morawiecki announced.< /p>
On the formation of a tank coalition of Leopard 2 vehicles for Ukraine, the Polish prime minister noted that Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, and Spain would also transfer them. Morawiecki said that he is in contact with the authorities of these countries in this matter.
Note that the PT-91 Twardy is Poland's main battle tank. This is a modernized version of the Soviet T-72M tank.
Recall that Morawiecki announced on the same day that he had brought the first Leopard tanks for Ukraine.
Note that the first Leopard 2 tanks from Germany will arrive to Ukraine at the end of March. As German Ambassador Anka Feldhusen stated, “in April there will already be a fairly serious number” of these tanks.
As for the American Abrams tanks, the United States stated that it would take more than a year for their transfer to Ukraine.
As US President Joe Biden announced, a total of 700 tanks from Western partner countries should arrive in Ukraine.
