Poland to complain to European Commission about Elon Musk's SI: what is the reason

Poland will complain to the European Commission about the Grok chatbot from Elon Musk's xAI due to the artificial intelligence's offensive statements about Polish politicians.

Poland to complain to EU

Poland plans to take Elon Musk's xAI artificial intelligence to the European Commission after the Grok chatbot generated offensive remarks about Polish politicians, including Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Reuters writes about this.

The case raises the latest wave of concerns about political bias, hate speech and chatbot accuracy that have been ongoing since ChatGPT launched in 2022.

Grok had already removed “inappropriate” posts on Tuesday after complaints from X users and the Anti-Defamation League about content that included anti-Semitic tropes and praise for Adolf Hitler. A Turkish court had previously blocked access to some of Grok’s content for insulting President Tayyip Erdogan, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and religious values.

Polish Digitalization Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski said on Wednesday on RMF FM that the government would ask Brussels to investigate the incident.

“I have the impression that we are moving to the highest level of hate speech, which is guided by algorithms, and turning a blind eye to this… is a mistake that could cost humanity in the future,” Gavkovsky said.

He added that the Ministry of Digitalization will report the violation to the European Commission for investigation and, possibly, a fine on X, because “freedom of speech belongs to people, not artificial intelligence.”

The developer of the xAI chatbot has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Let us recall that the father of American businessman Elon Musk, Errol Musk, said that he would like to visit the occupied territories of Ukraine, and also advised his son to visit Russia.
