Warsaw refuses to sever diplomatic relations with Minsk. This was told in the country's Foreign Ministry, RIA Novosti reports.

“The Polish government maintains diplomatic relations with Belarus and does not intend to break them off,” the ministry said in a statement. RIA Novosti notes that Warsaw wants to maintain ties, despite the fact that it did not recognize Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as the legitimate leader.

The neighboring countries of Belarus – Latvia, Lithuania and Poland – have already developed a plan to help the republic to overcome the political crisis. In addition, Warsaw is ready to mediate in the dialogue between the opposition and Minsk, but calls on other players, in particular NATO, not to interfere in the situation.

On the evening of August 9, protests broke out across Belarus over the discontent of residents with the results of the presidential elections. Clashes with riot police began in the center of Minsk. The rallies were suppressed with the use of tear gas, stun grenades, smoke bombs.

According to the CEC, 80.1 percent of voters voted for the incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, and 10.1 percent for the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya. She stated that she did not recognize these results.
