The Polish government has proposed introducing an emergency situation (ES) in the regions on the border with Belarus due to the threat of an influx of illegal migrants from Afghanistan and other Middle Eastern countries. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic Mateusz Morawiecki, his words were reported by Reuters.
According to him, the Council of Ministers appealed to the President of the republic because of the tense situation on the Polish-Belarusian border. It is noted that the decision to introduce an emergency regime will affect 115 settlements in the Podlaskie Voivodeship and 68 in Lubelskie. In the event of an emergency, a ban on holding mass and entertainment events will be introduced.
The migration crisis on the borders of Belarus and the European Union (EU) began at the end of May. Large groups of migrants from the countries of the Middle East and Africa began to storm the Lithuanian borders for asylum in European countries. Later, illegal immigrants began to be detained at the borders of Latvia and Poland and returned back.
European countries blame Minsk and President Alexander Lukashenko for the incident. Presumably, the Belarusian leadership uses the tour operator Tsentrkurort to transport refugees from Syria and Iraq to the EU borders and makes money on this.
A number of countries have decided to fence themselves off from Belarus with fences. However, in Lithuania, during the construction of the fence, the wire ran out. In Poland, they decided not to build a new fence, but to remake the old one, which was used to protect against wild boars that carry African swine fever.
