Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau predicted the strengthening of the US military presence in Eastern Europe in the near future. He said this following a meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, RIA Novosti reports.

“This should not be ruled out, but on the contrary. The whole strategy of the North Atlantic Pact leads to the fact that deterrence and defense should be symmetrical. Otherwise it wouldn’t make sense,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, the military of the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army arrived in Poland as an additional measure to strengthen the contingent of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) in Eastern Europe. Another 300 people from the 18th Airborne Corps went to Germany to be stationed at US bases. The transfer was carried out with the help of US Air Force transport aircraft and C-17 Globemaster aircraft.
