The country seeks to secure its border.
Poland will pour “all available resources” into defending its border with Belarus. This is due to an attack by migrants on a Polish border guard.
This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Onet reports.
According to the head of the Polish government, it is planned to restore a buffer zone on a strip about 200 meters wide from the state border line. However, Tusk did not specify that a buffer zone would be formed.
“I want to convey this to everyone. There is no room for any negotiations here. You can use any available methods, the Polish border must be protected,” the politician emphasized.
Tusk’s call was supported by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak Kamysh. He called the attack on a Polish soldier “gangster.”
“All means are at your disposal. This is a situation that is becoming more and more complicated every day, this is an organized action of the Belarusian services,” noted the head of the Ministry of Defense.
According to Kosinyak-Kamish’s deputy, Cezary Tomczyk, the wounded border guard is in serious condition. The incident happened the day before. A Polish soldier was wounded by a migrant trying to break through the barrier on the border with Belarus.
Recall that Donald Tusk previously stated that Minsk has increasingly aggressive intentions towards Poland. In particular, he called on the European Union to strengthen the country’s eastern border with Belarus to prevent illegal migration.
