More than a hundred volunteers joined the territorial defense brigade stationed in the Podlaskie Voivodeship of Poland on the border with Belarus. Thus, Warsaw expanded the grouping of troops on the Polish-Belarusian border. This was announced by the representative of the Podlaska brigade, captain Lukasz Vilczewski, reports TASS.
“All recruits will receive training, during which they will be taught how to use MSBS GROT rifles, orientation on the ground, camouflage, ambush, marches, attack rules and defensive actions,” the captain said. Recruits will also be trained in hand-to-hand combat, radio stations, and explosive devices.
Since the beginning of the migration crisis, the Podlaska brigade has been replenished with volunteers from the local population for the third time. Today its number exceeds two thousand people. In total, the border with Belarus is guarded by 15,000 regular army servicemen, 4,500 border guards and 2,000 police officers.
On December 17, it became known that the Polish serviceman Emil Clerk deserted from the army and crossed the border with Belarus. Soon he gave an interview to the Belarusian media, in which he spoke about the killings of migrants from the Middle East and even his own citizens by Polish soldiers.
