Poland banned abortions due to fetal pathology

The “Official Gazette” of Poland published the decision of the Constitutional Court to ban abortions in the country due to fetal pathology. The corresponding decision was made back in October 2020, writes the Polish News Agency.

The law states that a person has the right to life from the moment of conception, which is guaranteed by the Polish constitution. Abortion is officially allowed only if there is a threat to the health and life of the mother, with a high probability of severe and irreversible damage to the fetus or an incurable disease that endangers the life and health of the mother, and in case of pregnancy as a result of rape.

Abortion becomes illegal in cases of high probability of Down syndrome, disability of the unborn child, and a serious incurable disease.

Outraged people began to take to the streets of the country again. The organizers of the protests are seeking the resignation of the government and the removal of the ruling Law and Justice party.

Recall that in October 2020, the ban on abortions due to the pathology of the fetus that does not threaten the life and health of the mother was adopted by the Constitutional Court. But this caused massive protests in the country, which caused the authorities to postpone the publication of this law.
