The fighters of a private military company (PMC) in Syria were commanded by a man in a Wehrmacht cap – the armed forces of Nazi Germany. A photo showing how the mercenaries receive instructions was published by the Dangerous Fruit Telegram channel.
It is clarified that the picture shows the soldiers of the Russian PMC Wagner. They stand around a man in a cap, on which the symbol of the Third Reich is visible – an eagle holding a swastika in its claws. The identities of the fighters and the commander are unknown. Where and when exactly the picture was taken is not specified.
In August, investigators from Bellingcat, The Insider and Der Spiegel named the main leaders of the Wagner PMC, which is associated with the St. Petersburg businessman Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to journalists, they are Colonel Dmitry Utkin and the general director of the military security company “Konvoy” Konstantin Pikalov. This information is not officially confirmed.
PMC Wagner is an unofficial armed formation. His mercenaries are believed to provide security services in several countries in Africa. According to some reports, they also took part in hostilities in Donbass, Syria, Libya and were sent to Sudan to support President Omar al-Bashir.
