Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Alexei Mishin, who worked with two-time Olympic champion Evgeny Plushenko, assessed the prospect of athletes performing a quadruple axel. RIA Novosti reports.
He noted that at the moment he is consulting one outstanding skater who wants to learn such a jump. At the same time, Mishin called the element unattainable for all athletes in the world.
He clarified that no one can cleanly perform a quadruple axel during his lifetime. According to Mishin, this will not allow the modern level of development of human physical qualities to be achieved.
In 2021, Mishin was awarded the International Skating Union (ISU) Life Achievement Prize at the second ISU Skating Awards. Now the specialist trains the world champion in women's single skating Elizaveta Tuktamysheva.
