Another Sony conference call for investors and analysts took place. On it, among other things, the chief financial officer of the company Hiroki Totoki said that the new PlayStation 5 will not become victims of a total shortage of microcircuits.
According to him, the company managed to purchase enough parts and semiconductors to produce the planned number of PS5s in 2021, Twinfinite reports. Thus, Totoki confirmed that the previously announced figure of more than 14.8 million consoles shipped still remains a benchmark for Sony.
Interestingly, if the company can still achieve such a result, then the total number of consoles shipped from the start of sales will amount to 22.6 million units. According to the latest data, at the time of June 30, 10.1 million units of consoles were shipped.
