Sony did not manage to fix the critical PlayStation 5 bug before the console went on sale globally. This is reported by the Eurogamer edition.
The owners of the first Sony consoles, who received them before the start of sales around the world, complained about a bug that does not allow downloading some games. Many users complain that the console is successfully downloading the PS4 version of the title, but attempts to get the PS5 version end up in an endless download cycle. The Eurogamer journalist noticed that the desired game is available in his library, but the console does not allow downloading it. In particular, the author was unable to launch Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition.
The PlayStation 5 became available for purchase worldwide, including in Russia, on November 19. The journalists noted that Sony might have known about the existence of the error, but the company's engineers did not have time to fix it before the release of the console.
It follows from the material that there are many similar complaints on the network. Specifically, users cannot download the PS5 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. To solve the error, you need to reset the console to factory settings, which will format the built-in drive. “This is not an option that owners of set-top boxes will be happy to hear about,” the journalists noted. In particular, the new part of Call of Duty takes about 210.7 gigabytes of disk space and the installation process can take hours.
Eurogamer has requested comment from Sony but has not received a prompt response.
Earlier, the first users of the new-generation Sony console found a critical failure in the console. From the description of the error, it follows that if you put a certain game in standby mode, and then start it again, the system activates the recovery process of the external drive. The problem is solved by restarting the console.
