Rescuers found the body of one of the victims. At the same time, the search for the main part of the aircraft and the crew continues.

In the US state of North Carolina, a small Pilatus PC-12/47 aircraft with eight people on board crashed near the Outer Banks.

This is reported by The Associated Press.

It is noted that the Coast Guard on Sunday received a message about a possible crash when the controller of the Marine Corps Air Force Base Cherry Point informed about the aircraft, which behaved erratically on the radar for a while, and then disappeared from the screen.

Several pieces of the aircraft were found at the scene of the incident. At the same time, the search for the main part of the aircraft and crew continues with the participation of boats and a helicopter from three Coast Guard stations, local firefighters, police officers, and the beach crew.

According to Carteret County Sheriff Asa Buck, on Monday, February 14, rescuers managed to find and identify the body of one deceased. According to him, law enforcers “do not have any data indicating that someone survived the plane crash.”

“We're having a massive event here,” said U.S. Coast Guard Captain Matthew J. Byer. “We want the people of Carteret County and eastern North Carolina to know that your Coast Guard is doing the best with our partners.”

Bayer said most of the family members of the plane's passengers live in Carteret, a coastal county of nearly 70,000 people.

The cause of the aircraft crash is unknown. The US National Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation into the incident.
