German defense chief Boris Pistorius suggests that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin may attack NATO in 2029.
The German minister expressed this opinion at a press conference in Berlin, writes Bild.
“We must assume that Russia will be able to attack a NATO state in 2029 Therefore, the number of armed forces should be increased from 181 thousand to 203 thousand people. According to the Bundeswehr and NATO, Germany also needs about 200 thousand more reservists,” Pistorius said.
The publication notes that the German politician would like to introduce compulsory service for women and men, but “it would take too long, so Pistorius is quickly doing what is now possible.”
Pistorius emphasized that the German army wants to recruit “the most suitable, the most suitable, the most motivated.”
“We don’t want boring, meaningless military service,” added the head of the German Ministry of Defense.
