Pistorius commented on the leak of the conversation between German officers

The minister called Moscow’s claim that the Bundeswehr was allegedly planning an attack on Crimea a “crazy lie.”

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Putin is waging an “information war” against Germany. This is how he commented on the publication by Russian propagandists of an intercepted telephone conversation between German officers about the likely transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine and an attack on the Crimean bridge.

The German publication Bild reports this with reference to the minister’s statement.

According to him, this is a “hybrid attack” by Russia, the purpose of which is to “undermine resolve.” The minister noted that in the published recording, officers discussed different scenarios, but this does not mean a “green light” for the transfer of Taurus missiles to Kyiv. He called Moscow's claim that the Bundeswehr was allegedly planning an attack on Crimea a “crazy lie.”

Boris Pistorius urged not to fall for “Putin’s tricks” and to consider what happened in a broader context: it is no coincidence that Russia released the recording at the end of a week full of critical events from the Kremlin’s point of view, including the funeral of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny .

At the same time, the minister immediately ordered a full investigation into the incident in order to clarify the powers of the officers and the correctness of the choice of the means of communication – the WebEx platform. The first test results will be available early next week.

According to him, apart from the published recording of the conversation between Bundeswehr officers, he is currently unaware of other sources of information.

Recall that Russian propagandists said that representatives of the German Bundeswehr discussed attacks on the Crimean Bridge using long-range Taurus missiles. Propagandist Margarita Simonyan spoke about the “intercepted” conversation between high-ranking officers of the German army.
