German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced a reorganization of the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces), providing for the simplification of the previously fragmented system of command and control.
He signed the Osnabrück Decree, which actually marks another milestone on the way to the turning point proclaimed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
As UNIAN notes, for Pistorius the document became a road map in the matter of reorganizing the Bundeswehr.

The purpose of the reorganization of the Bundeswehr
The purpose of the decree signed by Pistorius is obvious: Germany must become “the basis of deterrence and collective defense in Europe.
Until now, the Bundeswehr has been focused on highly specialized local missions, such as in Afghanistan.
Now Berlin must set about establishing national and allied defense on the European continent.
To achieve this, the unified operational command will manage all force missions both domestically and abroad.
