Representatives of the Thai tourism business community noted that the industry may not survive the loss of another winter season. The main obstacle for foreign tourists in Phuket today is a two-week quarantine. To avoid it, it is necessary to form herd immunity in the local population as early as possible. That is why businessmen decided to vaccinate at their own expense, since the state program provides for the formation of herd immunity only in 2022.
It is planned to vaccinate residents over 18 years old. The initiative is already being discussed in the Chamber of Commerce and Phuket Tourism Association. The entrepreneurs are going to buy vaccines from private companies. First of all, they are considering the option of purchasing the Chinese drug Sinovac.
