Philippines approves emergency use of AstraZeneca vaccine

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration has approved the emergency use of the coronavirus vaccine by the British-Swedish consortium AstraZeneca. This is reported by TASS, referring to the head of department Eric Domingo.

“It was decided that all the conditions for authorizing the use of (vaccine) in emergency situations are present,” he said.

AstraZeneca's vaccine is the second coronavirus drug in the Philippines to receive an emergency approval. In mid-January, the Philippine regulator approved an emergency vaccine from Pfizer and BioNTech.

The Philippine authorities previously agreed to purchase 17 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine. The first delivery of the drug is expected in May.
