Some Czech citizens are fighting in the Ukrainian Armed Forces even without the permission of their president.
Czech President Petr Pavel has allowed 60 Czech citizens to fight on the side of Ukraine against Russian invaders.
This is stated in a message from the press secretary of the head of state Filip Platosh, reports Český rozhlas.
“In total, the president granted 60 requests,” the representative of the office of the head of state Filip Platosh told the media.
In total, 181 requests for permission to fight on the side of Ukraine led to the scam. Before reaching the president's desk, all requests go through three ministries, namely the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Defense.
Czech laws allow its citizens to participate in military operations on the territory of other countries only with the permission of the president. However, several Czech citizens who were denied permission to fight on the Ukrainian side are reported to be fighting, so the exact number of Czechs fighting on the Ukrainian side is unknown.
Recall that earlier the Czech President stated that victory over Russia at the cost of destroying half of Ukraine's population can hardly be considered a victory.
In addition, we previously reported that the Foreign Ministry commented on the Czech President's statement about the occupation of Ukrainian territory.
