The Kremlin does not agree with the words of the head of diplomacy of the European Union (EU) Josep Borrell about the authoritarianism of the ruling regimes in Russia and China. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.

“We do not think that the European Union has the right to make such assessments of the Russian Federation or the People's Republic of China. We are large sovereign countries with our own political system, with our own system of state organization,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

On February 8, Josep Borrell called Russia and China a “powerful authoritarian alliance.” He explained that the basis for this can be considered a joint statement by Moscow and Beijing, in which the parties called on NATO “to abandon the ideological approaches of the Cold War era, to respect the sovereignty, security and interests of other states.”

Earlier, the British newspaper Daily Telegraph wrote that the joint statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping symbolizes the transition to a fundamentally new structure of international relations. The author of the material recalled that the Chinese and Russian leaders met at a time of serious international tension.
