Matthew Miller did not confirm or deny whether the Biden administration really authorized the use of American weapons for long-range strikes on Russian territory.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller avoided answering the question of whether Washington really authorized Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles for deep strikes Russia.
To this question from a journalist, Miller responded that at present “there are no changes in our policy (on Ukraine – Ed.)”.
“We have made it clear that we will always adapt the options we provide to Ukraine when it is appropriate, and this is confirmed by the actions we have taken in recent years,” the State Department spokesman said.
He also responded to Russian accusations against the United States that Ukraine's possible permission to carry out long-range strikes will lead to even greater escalation. Miller emphasized that it is Russia that is escalating the conflict. This is evidenced, in particular, by the recent involvement of DPRK troops on the Kremlin side in the Kursk region.
Recall that yesterday, Western media reported that the administration of President Joe Biden had lifted the restrictions that blocked Ukraine from using weapons provided by the United States to strike deep into Russian territory.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell today essentially confirmed that the United States had allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory to a depth of up to 300 km.
In turn, Trump's associate Mike Waltz spoke of the danger of escalation due to long-range strikes on RF.
