Analysts and alcoholic beverage manufacturers have revealed people's drinking habits during the pandemic. Writes about this Financial Times.
According to the business publication, in 2020 the demand for stronger and more expensive alcohol has increased significantly in the world. So, due to the closure of restaurants and bars, people made a choice in favor of the use of spirits and cocktails of their own preparation. It is noted that at the same time, many began to abandon beer and wine.
Experts say that one of the reasons for the changes in consumption is that people were forced to refuse foreign travel due to the pandemic, and the money saved could be spent on better quality alcohol.
Jefferies analyst Ed Mundy explained that wealthy people who did not lose their jobs began to enjoy lower retail prices than in pubs and buy more expensive alcohol. He also added that if a person is stuck at home, it is easier for him to get a large bottle of spirits than 24 bottles of beer.
Earlier, the HUN company began looking for Britons who want to drink alcohol and get paid for it. The firm sells aluminum cans of South African wine. People who wish to become tasters of its products will be paid 200 pounds sterling (about 20 thousand rubles) and brought home a supply of wine for the whole year.
