Pete Hegseth has taken a dig at Fox News' Jennifer Griffin, accusing her of misrepresenting the U.S. strikes on Iran.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth became emotional during a press conference Thursday when asked a question by Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin.
This was reported by the publication Salon.
The reporter asked if he was sure that Iran's entire stockpile of highly enriched uranium was concentrated at the Fordow nuclear center at the time of the strike, citing satellite images of more than a dozen trucks near the facility.
“Of course, we monitor every aspect. Jennifer, you were almost the worst. The one who most often intentionally distorts information,” Hegseth said.
Griffin denied the allegations, saying she had covered the mission “with great accuracy” and did not agree with the attack on her.
Strike on Iranian nuclear facilities
The statements come amid growing media criticism of the operation's results. According to an internal US intelligence report released to CNN, the strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities did cause damage but did not result in “total destruction,” as President Donald Trump had previously claimed.
Trump called the report “very unconvincing” and called for the firing of CNN journalist Natasha Bertrand, who reported it.
On Wednesday, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said in a note on X that “new evidence” showed Iranian facilities had been destroyed.
“The propaganda media have resorted to their usual tactics: selectively publishing portions of illegally leaked classified intelligence assessments,” Gabbard said, noting that the leaks were intended to “undermine Trump's leadership.”
At the same time, according to European intelligence services, Iran may have moved stockpiles of highly enriched uranium even before the American strikes, and these stockpiles “probably remain largely intact.”
It is worth noting that Iran has revealed the real consequences of the US attack on their nuclear facilities.
